Oedipus complex

One of the goofiest parts of this theory for me is that women have penis envy. That is just so typical of the man's thinking- that women dislike themselves so much that we would all really rather have what men do. What- better pay and more recognition in the workplace? Yeah we will take that but as far as wanting to give up our own sexuality, I definitely do not think this is true. And if my husband sought me out because I remind him of his mother, then I am just flabbergasted because we are nothing alike.

Oh you think so? Just ask the hubby and I am sure he will tell you of the million ways you remind him of Mom. Just kidding. I do not find any value in the Oedipus theories either- I think that was just part of Freud trying to come up with shocking and controversial theories that would test the waters in the new world of psychiatry.
