Much reknowned for darker works

Picasso experienced a period in 1905-1906 that many call the Rose Period. During this stage of his life and career, he painted in much subtler tones. Do you find this valuable?

Was this due to a more calm period in his life? I would think that artists often paint based on their emotions and what they are going thru in their personla lives at that time. Was he happier during this rose period than say during the blue period? Do you find this valuable?
